Code of Conduct
Last updated: 1 January 2025
This Code of Conduct applies to all members, participants, volunteers, mentors, and staff of Young Dreamers Society across all our platforms, programmes, and events — online and in person.
YDS is built on the belief that extraordinary community requires extraordinary standards. We expect everyone in our community to uphold these standards with the same conviction they bring to their dreams.
1. Our community values
We are a community grounded in:
- Faith: We honour God in how we treat each other and how we carry our calling.
- Respect: Every person in this community — regardless of background, denomination, or stage of their journey — deserves to be treated with dignity.
- Integrity: We say what we mean and mean what we say. No performance. No pretence.
- Growth: We are committed to personal growth and to helping others grow — not at the expense of each other.
- Safety: We take the safety of every member, and especially young people, with absolute seriousness.
2. Expected behaviour
All members and participants are expected to:
- Treat all other community members with dignity, courtesy, and respect.
- Contribute positively to group discussions, events, and community platforms.
- Respect the privacy and confidentiality of others — what is shared in a cohort, stays in the cohort.
- Honour their commitments — to sessions, to mentors, and to their accountability partners.
- Uphold the reputation and values of YDS in all public spaces, including social media.
3. Unacceptable behaviour
The following behaviours will not be tolerated under any circumstances:
- Harassment, bullying, or intimidation in any form — online or in person.
- Discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender, age, disability, denomination, or any other protected characteristic.
- Sharing, distributing, or soliciting explicit or harmful content.
- Plagiarism or misrepresentation in any programme or application.
- Manipulation, coercion, or inappropriate use of community relationships for personal gain.
- Any behaviour that puts the safety or dignity of a young person at risk.
4. Mentors and leaders
Mentors and leaders within the YDS community are held to a higher standard. In addition to the above, mentors must maintain clear professional and ethical boundaries in all interactions with mentees, and must never exploit the trust that comes with a mentoring relationship for personal, financial, or relational advantage.
5. Conflict resolution
If a conflict arises between community members, we encourage the parties involved to seek resolution directly and graciously in the first instance. If resolution is not possible, concerns should be raised with a programme lead or the YDS team at hello@youngdreamerssociety.org.
6. Reporting violations
If you witness or experience behaviour that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it immediately to the relevant programme lead or to the YDS team. All reports are taken seriously, handled confidentially, and reviewed promptly.
Reports involving a young person’s safety should also be directed to our Designated Safeguarding Lead: safeguarding@youngdreamerssociety.org.
7. Consequences
Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in one or more of the following outcomes:
- A formal warning.
- Temporary suspension from community platforms or programmes.
- Permanent removal from the YDS community.
- Referral to the relevant authorities (in cases involving safeguarding concerns or illegal behaviour).
Decisions regarding consequences will be made by the YDS leadership team on a case-by-case basis, and are final.
8. Updates
This Code of Conduct may be updated periodically. Members will be notified of significant changes. Continued participation in YDS programmes constitutes acceptance of the current Code of Conduct.
